Living without access to safe water

Imagine life without water flowing freely from a tap. Imagine waking up at dawn and spending up to six hours fetching water for your family’s needs. One in eight people worldwide do not have to imagine this life – it is their reality.

WaterAid has a vision of a world where everyone has access to safe water, effective sanitation and hygiene education.

Join us in our mission to end water poverty. With your help, WaterAid can continue to bring people living in the world’s poorest countries access to these most fundamental of human rights.

Tips

Don’t over do it

if you’re just getting back into an exercise program, build up slowly. This is not a race

See your doctor

If you’re not currently doing regular exercise you should consult your doctor to make sure you exercise safely

Warm up

before exercising and stretch at the end to avoid injury

Water!

Remember to stay hydrated during exercise. We have access to safe, clean water in Australia, so drink lots of it

Dress appropriately

If you’re walking to work put your runners on and make sure you wear comfortable footwear and change into dress shoes when you arrive

Practice

By taking some of your planned walking routes. That way you are are hitting your stride by the time we kick off on October 1

Enjoy the Journey

Use walking as a way to de-stress, that way you’ll always think of it positively

Walk laps round your local park

It‘s simple to do and easy to organise
